My Lord Poem by cecil hickman

My Lord

My lord I wonder what is my worth.
What was the reason for my time of birth?
Others I know are asking this same thing.
What purpose will my existence bring.
I could never say my life has been bare.
All from my mind and heart, I do share.
My lord I pray for your guidance each day.
However, my mind sometimes gets in the way.
Aches and pains set to my body on fire.
Is this your way to show me your desire?
Or humanity’s sins that secure the pain.
Or my sins which drive the ongoing rain,
Tormoil of life’s duties we all must give.
To obtain the honor and glory you live.
My lord I pray for forgiveness from you.
My Lord I pray for your Son Jesus too.
For all who believe, delivered from sin
The road to Heaven is where we begin.
