My Song Of Songs And Now Poem by Gert Strydom

My Song Of Songs And Now

Rating: 5.0

1
My most beautiful memories of you
I experience again in a dream,
where you fold your clothes on a rock
in a cliff surrounded by oak trees,
where I see you naked, pretty and pure
at one of the streams of the Drakensberg mountain.
2
It could be a fragment that I imagine:
the moon reflects silver-white on the pool,
the wind plays with your curly hair
and you touch the water with your toes,
the moon is now much higher and yellow-gold,
the wind is chilly and carries the fragrance of jasmine,
3
faintly your wet body gleams,
silver like mercury drops run down as pearls,
where joyful in the water you are splashing and dancing,
a herd of klipspringer trot near to us
and to come to you I get a chance.
4
This could have been Eden it comes to me
and slender are your hips and thighs
when the antelope stop very near
where they are eating wild figs.
My heart beats wildly,
you pull me into the pool. Tangible is the silence.
5
It's if the stars glitter brighter,
are bigger just like huge diamonds,
your blonde hair gleams white,
silver drops glitter on your shins.
Later the wild-figs taste somewhat bitter
and still gleaming are your breasts and legs.
*
You are away now that I am fully awake
but still I am longing to be with you,
I know how much a man can miss a woman,
are cruelly imprisoned by destiny:
and maybe all of this has got no meaning,
where you did put our marriage on hold.
