My Younger Self! Poem by Namratha Swamy

My Younger Self!

It's been a while since I stood in front of the mirror
and at last made myself some time

To my great disbelief, I saw a stranger there
with her eyebags, sagging breasts and unkempt hair
Oh God! Is it me?

As everyone else's, my first reaction was to hunt for the albums which shows photographs
of my delicate youth!

But before I could in the corner of the mirror saw a reflection of my child admiring her mother
Mamma, will I grow up to look like you?

Turning back towards the small frame of myself,
I smiled.Yes, I looked just like you! ! !

Thank you God for preserving my youth!
