Mystery Person Poem by Kim Barney

Mystery Person

TED DADDY NOT ALL CROSS
All mixed up? At a loss?
Fifty eight and two thirds
Famous later for his words
Can you solve this mystery man?
I think it likely that few can
Do you need a few hints more?
He struck a record one-five-four
One last clue may lose you slumber:
He inspired Herbie's number

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is the June 2016 Contest poem. Read the contest rules on my poet page. First solver wins a spot in my poem 'Poetry Heaven'.
If the first solver is already in Poetry Heaven, then he/she keeps more people from entering and keeps Poetry Heaven a more exclusive place.

Remember, you don't win the contest by leaving a comment here. Send a message through PH's internal email system. Your subject will be 'June 2016 Contest'.

written 02 May 2016 and saved almost a month for the June contest.

Update:
Kelly Kurt has won the July contest (which was originally the June contest) by correctly identifying Donald Scott Drysdale as the mystery person.

Don Drysdale was a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was an intimidating right-handed sidearm pitcher. For a right-handed hitter, the ball always looked like it was going to hit you, and it often did. He still holds the record to this day for hitting the most batters. I think it was 154 (the number was in the poem 'Mystery Person') .

After he quit pitching, he became a sportscaster (for NBC?) and died (was it a heart attack?) while still working as such. They found his body in his hotel room one day when he didn't show up to broadcast a game.

The line in the poem
He inspired Herbie's number
refers to the car named Herbie in the Disney movie 'The Love Bug'. Disney used Don Drysdale's number 53 on Herbie.

Since Kelly is already included in my poem 'Poetry Heaven', he has saved me the trouble of writing a new verse to include someone else.
Thanks, Kelly.
