Is happiness mythological?
Or is happiness a real goal?
How do we judge happiness?
How do we make happiness last?
Can happiness last throughout the years?
Many say it can when little goes wrong
But they are fortunate to have found their soulmate.
Is happiness having money and materials?
Or is happiness friends and family?
When we wear that expensive clothing
We feel exhilarated and part of that happiness
But the next day we fight with friend
And that short term happiness does end
But yet we keep going out to spend.
Are we right or wrong to enjoy home comforts?
Of course we're not wrong to enjoy a happy home
But when we look at the wars in Gaza and Ukraine
We see people in dire straits trying to be strong
Friends and family dying so devastatingly
Lives in other countries destroyed for no reason
Other victims accused of treason.
But good things happen too:
People connect and search their soul
To forgive what others did stealthily steal
The suffering all too graphic and all too real
As if someone spoke to the devil and signed a deal
For perhaps evil leaks into a room
The occupants dying from the smoke all too soon.
For professionals solving crime makes a difference
Others are medical experts who make a difference
Others are recording artists to rightfully influence the world
Others are soldiers and the ambulance service to save people
Everyone's existence makes the world better
Even if happiness seems impossible
But I have faith of the holy light in my tortured soul.
