Near To Clearly Hear It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Near To Clearly Hear It

'Don't know.
Don't want to know.
Or care who knows it! '

There are so many who have said,
They have 'had it' with the World.
And everything these days.
That has gone astray.
Observed and seen,
Keeping more than a 'social distance'.
And yet...
They had been the ones,
First to come...
To someone else's rescue.

However...
They are also the same people,
Masked and in disguised.
Who will tell it like it is.
While again volunteering their time.
Around others still finding,
Nothing but petty nonsense...
On their limited minds.
Regardless of a threatening virus.
And warned about the effects,
Of a spreading pandemic promising death.

From here to there,
These folks are found everywhere.
Inflicting their ignorance.
As if stocks of it supplied,
And prepared to share.
Much more damaging,
To their unawareness.
Locked to blind their consciousness.

And...
Then left feeling upset.
When someone tells them and direct,
No one should want to hear it heard...
Nonsense spoken to accept and expect,
When these times we live in...
Ignorance and its stupidity,
Should be prioritized to put to death!
Doing this to care less,
Who has done what to who.
When and where.

"Uh...
Excuse me, my brutha.
We are protesting our right,
To respect one another.
With this done to have it allowed,
We openly express...
Our dignity, identity.
And ethnic heritage.
Our ancestors left us,
To not regret who we...
As a race we collectively,
Should feel within ourselves and be."

-Okay.-

"Is that all you have to say? "

-Today...
Yesterday.
And decades past and before that.
Who was it,
That made you abandon your pride?
As a down payment,
For an equality you still don't have? -

"Don't know.
Don't want to know.
Or cares who knows it! "

-Enjoy your protest.-

"Is that all you have to say? "

-Yes! -
