New Man Poem by Onuora ilodibe

New Man

Time flies like kites
Without precision it slide
Memories linger but awhile
Like patches of cloud my worries

Dissipates at noonday clout
Resurfaces at night a star distant
Submerges with the sun bare blunt
Absent of flora and fauna scant

A shallow brown stream all must drink
The wisdom soup watery sore and blank
The tasteless ration kicks a spunk
Reminds me of home socked as drunk

Every Institution is guided by law
Her yard is no exception I saw
Before complain obey or juice to stew
Rule number one the rest without a clew

Shaved and stripped of every right once a Freeman
Long lived rituals to purge of all the bad omen
Connect with the world outside 'new man'
They called me after my story they took me in

I was low spirited for countless days
Trapped behind these ruthless bars
My mind roam free as migratory birds
Here I sit a silent listener with ardent ears.
