New Year Promise Poem by Paul Sebastian

New Year Promise

Rating: 5.0

Across the candle-lit table, we sat
Sumptuous dinner we just had
Warm red wine in our hands
Thanking for the year that ends

Recalling precious moments shared
Silly petty quarrels between us flared
Tears you dried smiles you turned on
Child-like laughter on days slowed along

Surprise dinner outings and movies
Surprise bouquets and chocolate cookies
Your bear hugs, forehead kisses
Your early morning embraces

For enveloping my carelessness
With you empowering love-forgiveness
Your warmth, touch and listening ears
Your overwhelming love that endures

For what you are, I love you so dearly
You are a gift, God has blessed me so richly
I cannot exchange you for all world diamonds
You are love, life, my everything, my diamond!

I promise to love you every day, this year
I commit to working our love, another year
Let's build this love-treasury for our children
Let them inherit the gift of love God's given

Let's lift our glasses, toast a wine
As softly a love melody plays behind
Wish for another year of blessing
Commit ourselves to be always loving!

Happy New Year, my darling!
To a blessed New Year, we drink!

I promise to love you every day, this year I commit to working our love, another year Let's build this love-treasury for our children Let them inherit the gift of love God's given Renewal of love at the beginning of a New Year! Marriage is a sacred institution and the commitment of husband and wife to each other has to be occasionally reaffirmed! The children born of the wedlock should see the love of their parents, so that they will emulate a life style of caring and sharing! Lovely poem! Happy New Year!
