No Regrets - Poem by Maria Sharon Moemise

No regrets

By Sharon Maria Moemise

It was an emotion I knew
Reminding me of you
When we were together
Hoping it to be forever

I loved you then
I love you now
Feels like way back when
You and I made our vow

It still hurts looking back
When 'twas only you and I
'Ere I fell and became a wreck
and stopped wondering 'why? '

I loved you then
I love you now
Feels like way back when
You and I made our vow

I was queen to your king
I could never ask for more
If I knew what tomorrow'd bring
I'd dance to life's encore

I loved you then
I love you now
Feels like way back when
You and I made our vow

No regrets and no signs of bitterness which can linger through a broken marriage.
Your words are straight from the heart. I hope your heart and your life have moved on.
    Thank You

You repeat the lines I LOVED YOU THEN / I LOVE YOU NOW three times, but it feels as if you repeated them even more because that sentiment permeates your poem. There is a lingering sadness about the failure of this love to prevail but as your title shows, you are not giving in to negative emotions, especially not playing a BLAME GAME. I have the feeling this relationship helped you gow as an individual and it is that new individual who wrote this poem that sheds its light on so many of us with similar experiences. That's the way a truthful poem like yours nudges our lives forward when we take it inside our hearts and minds. It conveys healing energy. (Report) Reply

The poem brings out the sad images of a relationship gone sour but there is some hope:
I loved you then / I love you now / Feels like way back when / You and I made our vow

I find your love was lyrical....and you and your lover were two parts of a lyre.......lovely lyric by a lovely one who loves to love for ever....
    .....good rhyme scheme.....
