from 'While Passing Through'/Summer
Not autumn yet—
this why the sentinel crow
"caws" from his post?
thank you, kumarmani. i was walking mid-morning yesterday when this crow startled me with his call from directly above me. i saw no other crows, but they are more common here when the weather gets colder. -glen

A puzzling moment when the crow, that harbinger of dark things, calls out on a summer day. And you almost think, The crow mist be right - it must be autumn. But the doubt lasts only as long as it takes to recite a haiku and you're back in your summer mood. Stop confusing us, crow!
just when i was thinking it's almost but not quite autumn (i was on a walk) the caw from above somewhat startled me. i saw no other crows nearby, and it was unusual to see one here in warm weather. and i wondered if he was communicating that it was premature to fly into town and take over... btw, have you seen my senryu titled crow? your talent and training for imagining yourself into a scene revealed itself again. thank you, daniel.
