Not Necessarily Wished Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Not Necessarily Wished

It is not necessarily wished.
That those who receive recognition.
Spend sleepless nights wanting this to get.
It is the appreciation few from others hear.
After years of sacrificing most of their lives.
Wondering if the time will ever come.
When someone/anyone notices what they've done.
To then leave them feeling proud and validated.
And less ignored but still pretend,
It had never been about the recognition.
But relieved they do become.
When some to them does come.
