Not What I Appear Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Not What I Appear

There's nothing I can say
But I love you
And I am sorry that you found
I am not what I appear
Yes, I am phony
I am not educated like yr friends
I was poor- too poor
That I couldn't receive a student loan
And I am not that bright
Though, I worked hard every night
and got good grades
I felt like impostor
Because I was laughed at in school
But I know I love you
You don't need a PhD for that
Please forgive me and come to bed
Let us forget this silly fight
And in the morning's light
You'll find the truth
