I've always believed the betrayal of a friend is equal to the pain of being stabbed. A painful yet heartening read. Should be read by all
Kerouac felt that he had been stabbed many a time. Even in his death, some that were closest to him continue stabbing him. The Kerouac Venture is my way of honouring his memory.
2) cont'd...Kevin, it's a very high honour when an esteemed poet feels that my poem should be read by all. Very grateful to you, poet friend!
Great and truthful, poetic magic here, delves deep into 'humnan' nature!
If I can accomplish 'poetic magic'...I know that I'm succeeding with my poetic mission. Many thanks, Sandra, for your wonderfully positive feedback.
People are selfish and self centered, but what can you do. There are really no friends just aquaintances that may or may not profit from you
That seemed to have been the case with Kerouac! I've been very fortunate to have had a handful of friends that are true friends! I've found the acquaintances to be just there for themselves.
A profound verse, Richard. As humans, there's something in us that makes us treat (some) relationships in a transactional way. Once the benefit cost analysis dips into deficit, we seem to just move on. Again, great verse!
Great observation so wisely expressed. Happy that you like this poem that much. Many thanks for your continued support, my friend!
When friends desert you, it can be painful. Powerful verse, Richard.
Kerouac felt deserted so many times...yet, he kept plugging away. Look at how much he was able to accomplish! Thank you, Kim, for your very positive response.
