Notoriety To Achieve Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Notoriety To Achieve

Once anyone receives,
Any kind of notoriety to achieve.
Unexpectedly for them to get.
Without a thought.
It is assumed to believe,
That person,
Has a refrigerator full.
With a variety of food to eat.
No bills to pay.
And lives leisurely.
That their own zip code,
Had been authorized,
For all the fan mail...
Overflowing the post office.
And...
With money kept in several banks.
They will forget ten dollars,
To a neighbor they loaned.
Done to later hear,
While taking a walk to exercise...
How someone who borrowed that $10.
Did not have time to find,
Paying it back.
But called to ask for more cash.
