Oblivion Poem by Abhay Vignesh Liginlal

Oblivion

Why time this separation?
Why heart this longing to return to childhood?
Fragment of days which remain in me as memories that haunt,
What are the dark secrets the wind is whispering to palm trees at night?
They keep bidding me to write endlessly about the mystery of love & life,
Waves keep crashing as the sea pines to cling to the shore
But I only crave to come out of this shell of poetry;

Why are we never united in this life my love
Is it a fancy of destiny or have we forgotten a promise,
Blind hope is a candle made of wax of dreams
Which melts leading to inevitable doom

We are mirrors reflecting the image of those whom we despise
While we behold our own image, in another mirror,
Men hate each other in their blind lust to conquer
They end up destroying their other self whom they fail to recognize,
Your fickle memory is erased as life is a captive, in the chariot of time
Run by wheels of fate through the road of oblivion.

Our days are dewdrops on a leaf of life,
Which withers to detach
To remain beneath sands of time
In oblivion;
