Ode To Sunday Morning Poem by Thomas Plotz

Ode To Sunday Morning

To the men with the Sun
Men with the lights, of life and love
Images, and Icons, of art, and poetry

They have shown us, week after week
Sometimes bleak, with news
Though 52 times a year or more,
Depending on whom you’re talking about

With wit, and humorous viewpoints of
Color and Commentary, with
Song and dance and art of life

It’s part of my church, part of my grounding
Definitely my family
Definitely strong,
Strong without a doubt
Woven with an interlocking tapestry
Knitting everything together,
Everything of what the earth is

Slightly seen of despair, and death
Some from loss of mind,
Some from loss of life,
With quick shocking attacks
By man, and natures effects

All and all, it’s part of the total life we share
Not always, fair
Not always, fair

Then –
Showing us love, and love of others
Love of family, and giving to brothers
Love of the world we share with nature, and
For the love of us
