Of My Friends In Duhallow Poem by Francis Duggan

Of My Friends In Duhallow

The friends of my past i may not see again
And of them only the memories with me now remain
Though this is going back in time many a day
In my younger years Gaelic football and soccer with them i did play

And thanks for the memories is all i can say
To my friends in Millstreet from here far away
Where to many i would be a stranger today
But good memories of what was in my mind does stay

Grandparents with their ageing partners or wives
Some of them in Duhallow will live out their lives
Some of them remain single and some did migrate
I have thought of them more than a few times of late

We all have our choices in life for to make
And we all have our own journeys to undertake
And though in the flesh i may not meet them again
Of my friends in Duhallow goods memories with me will remain.
