Oh Michigan, winter wonderland!
Let me peel off my wet socks
Hung now steaming above the fire
Such rewards the summer cuts
Of seasoned wood now crackling
Steaming too a bit
Some damp inner crevice sighing
Your iron gate eased wide creaking
A stony mouth exhales to heaven
As bare toes relish the glowing
Rewarded for their daily trudging
Oh Michigan of crystal winter skies
As blue as heaven dares display
A gift for all the flurried days
Dreams of spring can wait today
I like this, Edmund! Excellent descriptions in Some damp inner crevice sighing and A stony mouth exhales to heaven. A great rhyming finish as well. Knowing the pleasures of a warming crackling fire (we’ve had hearth stoves in two of the three houses we’ve lived in) I well relate. Hoping you’re well in all ways, Glen
It is bad enough to go beyond this 300 mark and be reminded but worse still for it to be lost! How do I recreate what is a sincere thought. Why it is that people meddle with technology and ruin what was a good format is beyond me. Nonetheless thank you Glen...hope all is well.
This poem warms the cockles of my heart. What a beautiful picture you paint I want to take the next flight to Michigan and enjoy that winter wonderland. Here in the Rockies it's warmer than usual and hardly any snow so far.But through you Edmund I get a taste of one of my favorite seasons. Delightful and heartwarming.
Oh how that makes me want to be in Michigan right now. I can feel the heat from the crackling fire and almost smell the steaming socks haha. The stoney mouth exhales to heaven. A wonderful poem Eddie. Warms my soul.

As usual this is a gorgeous poem gorgeously written- - now may I ask you something? How can we bribe you to write more often? I miss your descriptives, the soul you put into your poems... shoot, I just miss seeing new poems from your pen. I give you 10's but I expect to see more poems, okay? Don't ever mess with a woman a-horseback.... ;)
