Old Friends Now Unknown Poem by Terence George Craddock

Old Friends Now Unknown

I walked far on far journeys
far from your homeward halls
to the ends of the earth;
eventually back several times I traversed
part of me was born in far places
part of me is left in far places;
in lives touched briefly in meaningful moments
in lives interacted with over many wandering years
I returned home like Odysseus tide cast;

after adventures disasters too numerous to count
yet now found in myself I walk among strangers
I am the stranger you are all strangers;
many tides countless came in out under our feet
in those twenty thirty years travel gone
as a phoenix reborn many fires flame purified;
mystic mind has now entered deep into psyche
free now from blinkers narrow focus tradition vision
I walk towards new goals new dawn light;

sun shines upon me rain falls upon me
celestial visions starlight illuminates every plight
I have traded a restless wandering homeless soul;
for peace harmony enlightenment of mystic inner sight
flesh body no longer confines defines me mortal clay
lacks powers to inner visions slay come what may;
