On Broadway Entertaining Center Stage Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

On Broadway Entertaining Center Stage

I have a need to see my name in lights,
On Broadway.
And high as it blazes to shoppers...
Stopped on 5th Avenue.

I have a need to see my name,
On a theatre marquee.
And displaying what it is I do.

I want much more than 5 minutes of fame to claim.
Give me 15 minutes at least.
Give me 15 minutes to get folks on their feet.

I want much more than 5 minutes of fame to claim.
At least enough for people to spell my name.
At least enough to soak in,
Seeing my name spelled right in neon.
And me there on Broadway entertaining center stage.
