On Taking The Second Dose Of Corona Vaccine Poem by Khairul Ahsan

On Taking The Second Dose Of Corona Vaccine

Rating: 5.0

Spent a whole year or more,
Almost indoors;
Unless otherwise forced to go out,
To meet an unavoidable urgency.
Corona has successfully
Confined us to the four walls!

Throughout the year,
Used a mask whenever went out,
Almost as meticulously
As a soldier wears his uniform.
Just because I deem life
Of mine as well as of others,
So precious!

Time turns our agility into debility.
One who once used to climb stairs,
In leaps, skipping one or two at ease,
Now reaches out for the railing
While climbing down.
Such people are the most vulnerable
To the perilous clutches of Corona.

In most countries,
They are the ones, the elderly veterans,
Who are offered priority for vaccination.
I too am one of them.
I am grateful to the country and the people
For offering me the vaccine in preference
To others, the younger lot.
Age is my only God gifted qualification!

Happy to have taken the second dose!
Happy to tell others too,
To take the vaccine in right earnest,
Because life of yours, theirs and ours
Is equally so precious!

In notification, I have seen that some readers have commented on this poem of mine, but I do not find any here. I saw the notifications several hours after the poem was published. Can anyone help me find those comments? I am yet not fully conversant with this new format of PH.
