On Seeing A Wayside Solitary Flower Poem by Khairul Ahsan

On Seeing A Wayside Solitary Flower

Rating: 5.0

Inches above the loose earth
You stand alone, stooping a bit,
Wearing a smile of modesty, not mirth
That's to your demeanor a perfect fit.

The green shrubs around you
Display a semblance of cheerfulness.
The pink petals though freshened by the dew,
To my eyes cannot hide their tearfulness.

The piece of half brick that lies near around,
Is symbolic of life's hard encounters;
While the other half of life may often be found
As solitary and serene like the way side flowers.

@Nika Mcguin, Thank you so much for your generous praise for this poem, I as the poet feel highly inspired by the kind words you wrote here. I have just read your beautiful poem, 'Meet Me In a Dream' and commented on it. Hope, you will notice it.

Beautiful write! I love that this poem came from a happenchance encounter such as this. You my friend are a true poet. Looking at a flower you see so much more - you see it and its surroundings as symbolism for life. And I must add it seems quite accurate indeed. This poem is a gem, well done!

Often a lone beauty of nature attracts our attention and creates an inspiration like nothing else. The lone flower brought the best of your emotions and thoughts in a lovely poem. Thank you for sharing. A 10 +++.

You have adorned her as a lovely queen though she is not accompanied by a royal cortege... and not dressed in glittering brocade! Her pink face made damp by her tears of dew drops gives her a melancholic demeanor! Such wayside flowers stand out arresting though bent down in humility! A beautiful poem!
