Once I Dreamt Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Once I Dreamt

Once I dreamt wondrous dream as naïve boy
Innocence, pure of heart, life sparkling, bright
Saw Promised Land flowing with milk and honey
With journey of hardships to be overcome
Land of freedom, goodness, where love reigns.
Once I dreamt wondrous dream as callow youth
Coming to understand God's magnificence
Love for children of Adam with teachings of Jesus
Knowing faith and love are shields against evil.
Once I dream a wondrous dream as prudent old man
Faithful, resolute, steadfast seeking gates of Heaven
There to be embraced by God's mercy and love,
Safe within His salvation and everlasting light.
