One Day I Will Become Mother Poem by Soumita Sarkar

One Day I Will Become Mother

Rating: 5.0

Oh life!
Why are you away, so far unclear?
The stream of light is so thin
It is hidden beneath the deep layers
Those layers are buried inside my skin
My inside was rotting and puncture
A burn cyst how long there unseen
And came out with it the mother
Life that one can feel and breath
Life that moves inside a world
That world of mine is not responsive
Even to the dose of tincture and technique
Oh life!
To possess you and shape you
Corners of faith shook and searched
All beliefs and customs we knew
Stones and religions I touched
So that the darkness in path is cleared
The path which is now blocked
Has blocked our joy from meeting us
Time … only time can show us hope
The night of hope shall end soon
To make way for the bright dawn
My shadow shall slowly creep and crawl
It shall turn and swim in my fluid
And give me a call one day
I shall alone hear that one sound
For that sound will be ‘Mother’.

Being a mother is a blessing that some time comes with lot of pain and wait. Your words express it all that women go through in carrying nature's work.
