One Drop Poem by Jim Yerman

As I gaze out on the ocean with the sky as its backdrop
I'm reminded, amid such vastness, the importance of one drop.
The sky would not exist without each drop of every element it contains…
The ocean was created from a single drop of rain.

Every book that's ever been written
with every emotion they have stirred
began when one letter joined with others
In forming that first word..

The music we love to listen to
penned from the mind of every musician who ever wrote
began, like all the others,
with but a single note.

If one drop can create the sky, the ocean
books and music that captivate…
It makes me wonder in a divided world
what a single drop of kindness could create.
