I never met you
Yet from your photograph
I saw the beauty in your heart
In your shining eyes
The glow that gave true love to another's soul
A soul now lost without you
The pain you have suffered is now released
The pain left behind is unbearable
To not see the pain in your eyes any longer is a blessing
Yet to no longer see your eyes is pure heartache
It was you who repaired heartache
And now you are gone
Will this heart heal
I feel the sand between my toes
The burning sun so bright
And too, I am with you in the winters rain
Feeling pain for what is left behind
In time our footprints will meet
For I never met you
Only your photograph

Excellent words all from a photograph with thoughts we all have had...pain and love expressed makes you feel it with the words... well done indeed...regards
Love this Lyn, what a story you have told with such insight that brings to life a beautiful person that you have never met! Brilliant write!
Reminds me of my grandfather. I am touched. Thank you.
It is always a pleasure to look at the photographs of those long since gone - especially the old ones which were perhaps taken when times were harder, and people were closer than in modern times. A beautiful poem Lyn, expressing a lovely sentiment.
a picture reveals more than words, it mirrors a mind too. lovely write, Lyn.

Very Beautiful poem Lyn. I would rather say regarding your poem this way... Its a blessing with a photograph you could understand the beauty of ones heart. Especially when near ones couldn't understand it. Beautiful lines.... The pain you have suffered is now released The pain left behind is unbearable To not see the pain in your eyes any longer is a blessing Yet to no longer see your eyes is pure heartache.... Again I will tell its a blessing when you feel heartache for lost soul... Your poem is fantastic and I could feel as if its poured out from your heart. Really loved reading it.
