Outside To Inside Poem by Katherine Perry

Outside To Inside

Rating: 5.0

It brings tears to my eyes
To take a walk outside
And see houses with empty yards
Theres not a child in sight
No one riding their bike
Just a dog all cooped up in a cart

The basketball hoops all abandoned
No rollerblades anywhere around
Just cars parked in driveways
With empty red wagons
And kids nowhere to be found

Trees are empty with colored leaves on
the ground
The gates are all closed and locked up
Besides the birds singing and the wind
blowing sounds
The only thing moving is a frisky young
pup

But if you would walk up to a house
And choose to knock on the door
The minute it is answered
You will see kids galore

They will be running around
With electronic devices held close
I-phones and I-pads
Their faces all comatose

Action packed violence seen on tv's
From video games played on playstations,
x-box's and wi's
Baby's crying in the background
Wanting to be picked up
But parent's too busy on cellphones
speaking loudly of what's what

All time did was reverse the tables
Which took away kid's freewill to play
outside
Now creative and imaginative minds are
no longer able
To be expressed, just put away in some
closet to hide

Unfortunately so, if you took a kid today
And placed him outside in the yard
He would stand there all frozen
And complaining of being bored
Acting like he was sentenced to a prison
behind bars! !
