Outstanding Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

The boy performs brilliantly in every examination,
He is outstanding indeed,
The parents are proud of him,
They are joyous and jubilant.
Another boy of his class lives next door,
He is not of that superior kind,
His result is average in the examination,
His ambitious parents are concerned about it,
They rebuke their child
And the pressure comes enormously on him
To perform like the 'outstanding',
Being puzzled, the boy loses his nerve and commits suicide,
This way he escapes from this severe competitive world;
The parents of the wretched child burst into tears,
But it's too late,
Their child will never come back.
Such incident is the reality of this day,
It's absolutely harsh and inhuman.
High time now for the parents to understand about the limit of their expectation from their children,
Otherwise, it will be the worst like this again and again.
