Painfully Missed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Painfully Missed

So high is the cost to pay,
To display that acceptable image.
Without credibility depicted.
Or competence openly portrayed.
Even to have or have not,
There are some...
Awaiting for competence.
To anticipate it to hope delayed.

That wait to anticipate,
Is long overdue and too late.
Since image wanted to solicit and get,
Has become more important to prioritize.
Than one's own thought process.
Once to measure and treasure,
What common sense was to have it valued.
Like a childhood gone with its innocence.

Although...
There seems to be a resurgence,
Of common sense wished.
To make an appearance.
Regardless if its visit,
Is short but given time to reminisce.
Yet so many are hoping,
Common sense is convinced to remain...
Permanently again.
Never to painfully miss.
Or ignorantly dismiss it!
