Past Midnight Poem by Barry Middleton

Past Midnight

Rating: 5.0

I stand here in the moonlight
and it is well past midnight
no one around and not a sound
to share this mystic sight

I face the night alone
I guess I should have known
quite unprepared but yet I dared
to wander far from home

the moon falls toward the west
and I have done my best
though I'll be gone before the dawn
I still have passed the test

so I will not give in
nor grieve what might have been
for there is grace within this place
where peace will soon begin

The content of a life lived to feel through the verses in a delicate sensitiveness!
