Pearl Harbor Fly Over Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Pearl Harbor Fly Over

Douglas C47's will be flying over us in minutes, excitement
stirring within, four hundred Vets and their families owe
their lives to the pilots of Pearl Harbor.

Four Vets who were on Iwo Jima are in one of the planes
that'll be flying over shortly, B-17 being the center-
piece of air power in World War II.

"Coming in on a wing and a prayer", she could take a
punch! only twelve are flying today, sixty were shot
down in the war.

Today, the 76th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor,
a procession of Vets and their organizations carrying and
placing wreaths in front of the USS Arizona's anchor.

Flags flying at half mast in honor of our World War II
Veterans; a small fountain spouting forth, flowing like
life before all of us today, as it has since World War II.

A perfect sky of blue, a symbol or our freedom and liberty,
an omen to the future of the U.S.A., it's the duty of every
single American citizen to defend our God-given nation.

Thank you to all our Veterans who have fought, died and
sacrificed so we could all be free, now embracing all
Vets and their purpose in our lives.

Honoring them and their families who have also sacrificed
their sons and daughters as they went to war and fought
for our freedom and that of other countries.

Our hearts are one with theirs in sorrow and honor for-
ever, history will ever be remembered in the hearts and
minds of all who attend this Pearl Harbor Memorial Day.

Our voices and hearts blessing all those who died for
liberty, they are our American Heroes! two hundred six-
teen million Americans signed up to go to war.

Two Hundred ninety Americans died for our country; re-
spect, honor and humility have survived wars to keep
America safe and free for it's citizens.
