Pensioners Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Pensioners

Pensioners

New pensioners are added
The retired life was not intended
But alas! Government brings stage of inactiveness
Some kind of satisfaction rushes on face

You were boss in office
Tea, coffee and slices
All at government's expense
Only public felt tense

The behavior puzzled people
Why were we not responsible?
Why did we give rude reply?
There is no answer and don't ask why

We were crying about discipline
Total commitment toward people
Good service and new introduction "May I help you"
All sign boards shines but was the drive intentional show or true?

Will I get same treatment?
I felt dismemberment
I shall be taken as stranger whenever visit other office
People shall look with different eyes and surprise

So it is not new thing
We had all imagined about something
Still we thought "it is too far"
With unexpected time, it approached so near

It's true. A Government officer who behaved rudely during his tenure feels the real brunt when received similar treatment in another office. I know retired Treasury officials grudgingly paying bribes to their successors-in-office, forgetting that they did the same earlier. A very good poem Sir.
