People Ain't Ready Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

People Ain't Ready

It does not matter,
What one has to offer.
Or how great they may be.
If they are not dressed,
To impress.
With giving image to address it,
First.
A second look they will not get.
People will only respect,
And not too often judge...
What their eyes can see.
Stay on without blinking.
With mouths open wide not to budge.

The same applies to truth.
If folks hear it spoken.
And it offends.
They will not care,
What's in it for them truth offers.
Or how great it is to hear it heard.
If people ain't ready for it,
With a listening to pay attention...
No respect will truth from them get.
Regardless who is dressed to impress.
And giving truth away for free.
