Perilous It Can Be Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Perilous It Can Be

Dangerous.
Hazardous.
And perilous to one's health,
To dismiss the warnings...
Of a seriousness.
Whether distant or close.
No one should ignore to perceive,
They have been chosen to be untouchable.

Remaining proactive, prepared and aware,
Makes all the difference.
Than to believe one can leave,
Quicker than a life threatening situation...
Has arrived outside their door.
Covered up to the threshold.
By a flooding of torrential rain.
That has already forced others,
Heard yelling in desperation for rescue.

Yet...
There will always be some,
Observed...
Dressed impressively to impress.
On rooftops.
Sipping on cocktails.
And waving to neighbors,
Wearing the latest designer bathing suits.
Hoping a life threatening storm produces,
The right effect.
To create the perfect of 'selfies' taken!

Perilous it can be.
To not take seriously,
Warnings of death that threatens.
Or to wait until the last minute,
To decide which decision to make.
When hurricane winds,
Have begun to blow neighbors...
Screaming off their rooftops.

Although...
No one can dispute,
Impressive they were.
And looking as fabulous as possible!
Perilous or not,
The warnings and threats they had faced.
