Corn flower and periwinkle spread into the air to make twilight.
A doe's brain rubbed into a doe's hide tans a girl's moccasins pale gray.
Some hours immerse her hands in patient, loving handiwork;
some moments let her glimpse the horizon's hue at dawn.
Some music makes the colors of those moments dance in a wheel,
only by grace of fascination stored up by the maker.
