Ask yourself...
Did you join PoemHunter for the poetry?
Or.
Did you join for the points?
Those lovely, lovely points.
Those points that fuel your existence.
The more points you gain.
The more loved you are.
Is that how it works for you?
Makes you a better person perhaps.
Higher up the PoemHunter poetry ladder.
Top of the PoemHunter food-chain.
The Great White shark of poetry.
Immersed in points and swimming amongst mere minnows.
You can look down on lesser point-scorers.
Smug and arrogantly content.
I have a news-flash reality check for them.
Which is this...
In this life we live and lead,
There will always be people,
Greater and lesser than you!
Oh by the way.
When they comment on your new poem,
In just a few meagre words,
Then obtusely and so bluntly ask you,
In many more words than praise for your new poem,
To read their latest one,
Simply to points build.
And if they constantly keep haranguing,
Enough good people,
Who out of politeness oblige.
It will end up in the top 500.
When they crudely and crassly ask this way,
Their poem is always beyond crap.
I have one thing to say to these,
Points junkie pseudo poets...
Grow up.
Act like an adult.
Get a grip.
And get a life.
And thankfully,
These shallow, obtuse, pathetic people,
Are only a small number.
And even more thankfully
There are more kind, genuine, empathetic,
People, poets and poems on this site.
Than the aforementioned.
Which are you? ...
