Poetry Widower Poem by Della Perry

Poetry Widower

The kitchen is rank
Dishes soaking in cold water
Tea stained spoons, coffee stained mugs
Carpet is dusted in dog hair, a snowfall of white
Cobwebs, spiders and dust live in crevices
Floors need mopping
Sides need some elbow grease
Drinks would be nice?
Or maybe some supper?
After a hard days graft!
How about some kisses, or a bit of loving?
The kids seem okay, they think it is heaven
Toys and games strewn around rooms.
Poetry has kidnapped the wife
'Poems don't write themselves, you know! '
She says with a happy grin.
Maya has a lot to answer for!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote a story about missing my husband when the football is on. He said you are just as bad with your poetry. So I wrote this as well.
