Poets' Fight Poem by Sandra Feldman

Poets' Fight

'If you are,
a better poet than me,
There can be no jealousy'
Two poets discuss their merit,
Knowing they can bear it!

It has to be said, and affirmed repeatedly, it can't be left to chance or luck - WE POETS aren't in competition but in cooperation. So much love unifies us: love of our vernaculars, love of language for its own sake, love of communication, love of each other's imagery, love of each other's flights of fancy. Someday I'll announce a B-I-G P-O-E-T-S P-A-R-T-Y and we all, that's A-L-L O-F U-S, will be together on the lawn, eating, laughing and crying, reciting our poems, and drinking the Wine of Inspiration.

There are none so foolish as those who won't learn from a colleague. Pride is folly and honest criticism is an asset.
