Poisoned Arrow Poem by Juan Olivarez

Poisoned Arrow

Rating: 4.5

A poisoned arrow in my heart,
Troubled me for many years.
My friends would laugh, and often jest,
At my sudden bitter tears.

The poison through my system spread,
Till I no longer cared to live.
In truth I had been left for dead,
I had nothing left to give.

And then one day my path you crossed,
And flashed those Irish eyes my way.
I found in me what had been lost,
And I thank the good lord every day.

The poisoned arrow now is gone,
There is no scar at all.
My heart now sings a brand new song,
Since it heeded your call.
