Power Is A Thing - Poem by Francis Duggan

Power is a thing that is misunderstood
The only people of power worth talking about are those who use their power to do good
Some people use their power in a destructive way
And far too many of their sort in the World of today
To a narcissistic people power can be a fuel
To those they look on as subordinate for to be cruel
To since this gives them pleasure they are sadistic of mind
Those who use their power in a good way are compassionate and kind
The materially wealthy person who has compassion is always willing to help those of helping in need
She or he makes a great difference to many and is a great person indeed
Better lives for many they are helping to create
Such people are entitled for to be called great
They use their power in a good way which is a great thing
And of their praises i feel happy to sing.
