Preserve It To Ripen Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Preserve It To Ripen

Small but not shallow,
Placid but not tranquil,
Short-while yet worthwhile
Was our lives’ sojourn.
Admiration and inspiration,
Animation and elation
Which were witnessed
Are all gone to wind
When the sojourn came to an end.
Each birth ends in death.
But horrible is the death of youth.

To preserve to ripen and
to conserve to sustain
it, is in your hand.
