Many borders you traverse for love and friendship
many nations you invite for progress and development
many hearts you conquer with your speech and charisma
many millions of people admire you for your sincerity and gentleness;
everything you do to enhance the prosperity and unity of our country
everywhere shines the faces of people who witness your benevolence
there will never be another like you who will reach out to people
as you win the admiration and appreciation of others
with your warmth and intellect everywhere you go.
But dear Prime Minister let me tell you
to be a little more generous to those in need,
let me tell you to nurture our own seeds so that they grow into fine fields,
as, in our villages and rural areas which are little away from our big cities
there is silent and persistent poverty which is so touching,
it sends some people to sleep on those streets without food or a blanket
that even some children have to walk to school without shoes or slippers
and sit in their classrooms without books and benches,
there is no clean water to drink or to bathe in some of our villages
there are only thatched houses or huts for some people to live in.
So Prime Minister just as much as you need the blessings of your mother
there are the people of paucity in our country who seek your blessings
of care and concern, of directions and determination;
they wait for that hand to hold that will help them walk away from poverty,
they wait for those meals twice in a day which can take away their hunger;
so let there be no more of those satellites for grace or greatness
where my country has to invest in millions while our millions in poverty sleep,
while our children have to walk bare-feet for miles to reach their schools,
while our aged and elders have no money for their medical treatment or medicines.
Dear Prime Minister, let everyone touch your robe of kindness
and just as much as the Indians around the globe assemble to greet you
let every Indian of our every village and city assemble to meet you and thank you
for there will not be another Prime Minister who will get so close to people
and understand that improvement in their standard of living is so crucial
and that it is the best blessing or gift which a man of wisdom like you
can give to our mankind and to our very own nation.
