Puzzles Poem by Paula Glynn

Puzzles

Just as people are a mystery, this whole universe is a mystery,
When time began with that big bang, we don't know,
All that matter condensed into one point is a mystery unto itself,
Why the world is the way it is, I know I'll never know,
But like all philosophers, scientists and many religious men,
I'll try to find explanations for these puzzles through my own beliefs,
Still, I doubt anyone will be able to solve the mysteries of the universe,
Where atoms and particles move and the sun burns into unstoppable heat,
And the planets in the solar system spin past each other in union,
A system science can explain, but it is a wonderful puzzle,
The pieces being fit together by the human race,
Who make the most of all that cannot - and never will be - explained,
For life is like a jigsaw puzzle: so many pieces discarded and lost,
That putting back together the picture of the universe seems impossible,
But billions, and more uncountable light years, have gone by,
In the mysteries of the universe, and we have to look beyond the sky,
To those famous stars that burn from millions of years across the universe,
And those very same stars will be with us always,
And will shine upon our children, but I know our children will learn the mystery,
That our knowledge today will be passed down through generations,
And as the human race journeys into space,
We'll all have our memories at wonderment of the puzzles that make up this vast, magical universe.
