Rain On A Tin Roof Poem by Jeri Martindale

Rain On A Tin Roof

Waking up to the sound of rain on a tin roof,
Music to my ears.

Darkness still lurks as I open my ears and hear this sound.

Music softly playing,
Describes this day.

The rain pours down softly,
The sky is all grey

The rain washes away
The worries of yesterday.

It feels so good on my skin
Softly hitting and falling away.

The trees are lurky,
But beautiful still,

Like when the sun
Comes up over a hill.

Waking up to sound of rain on a tin roof,
Makes me think of you.

Laying around all day long
Watching the rain fall.

Being alive feels so good as we watch the fog roll by slowly.

Laying in your arms,
Wrapped around me tightly.

You loved me then,
Do you love me still?

Waking up to the sound of rain on a tin roof,
I see you.

Laying next to me,
So very close.

I close my eyes
And go back to sleep,

With a smile on my face
As I start to dream.

Leaving soon, but before I go,
I want you to know.

Waking up to the sound of rain on a tin roof,
I will always be with you.

In your heart,
With you in mine too.
