Raise The Bar Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Raise The Bar

It may be difficult,
In these days crazed.
To raise that bar up.

Up.
And above beyond,
All that appears to tough.

These days to live them,
Takes much more than prayer.
And much more than faith.
It takes with prayer and faith,
A willingness to be unafraid...
To face the truth displayed.
And not from it to turn away.

It is what it is.
But...
You don't have to be of it.
Left disgusted and depressed.
Choose...
To rise above it.

It is what it is.
But...
You don't have to be of it.
Left disgusted and depressed.
Choose...
To rise above it.

You may be pinching pennies on your knees.
And...
Believe this experience,
From you will never leave.
You may be the one,
Who has lost everything to possess.
But keep it in your mind to know,
Those faithful are being tested.
In ways that may be depressing.
And not remember that God knows best.
So pray.
Everyday and stay faithful.

It is what it is.
But...
You don't have to be of it.

Raise that bar.
Up.
Above confusion.
So,
Raise that bar.
Up.
Above division.
Up.
Above conflicts.
And a hatred for others,
Who hate one another.

It is what it is.
But...
Raise that bar above the B.S.
Raise that bar.
Choose...
Not to accept that mess.

It may seem difficult not to do,
What others for themselves do to choose.
But...
It is what it is.
And you don't have to be of it.
Left disgusted.
When you can choose to raise the bar.
Higher.
Choose to raise the bar.
Higher.
Choose to raise the bar.
Higher.

Higher.

HIGHER!
