Ramble In The Jungle Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Ramble In The Jungle

This jungle that i walk
There's no one with whom to talk,
about anything, not even science
So i walk this jungle in silence
There are scenes i see
Trees with branches free
Some with branches in knots
There may be snakes or not
I doubt though
Little birds chirping away would not have ignored,
a slithery, dithery serpentine host
A snaking silhouette coasting like a ghost
Where i am standing something is crawling up my trousers
A battalion of red ants carrying loot like bowsers
Some stopping to take a bite
I dance and prance to fight.
And move away to marvel at dung beetles,
They toil away hauling a load many times being so little.
I hear a lion roar, fortunately far, locked up in a zoo
A herd men with cows freely mooing
Knowing fully well predators are confined in fences.
My senses at their peak as i ramble in the jungle.
What's a poet to do but to freeze this wonderful ramble in verses?
