Reading Laozi, A Rendering Of A Chinese Poem Ofbai Juyi

Those who talk much show shallowness
they don't know nothing. But those who keep silence
are thoughtful, they know everything's essence
Bai Juyi heard this long ago from an old gentleman.
Now he wonders if the old gentleman knew it was true
how come he says it in five thousand words.

-rendered from a literal translation from web pages:

Speak person not know know person silent
This saying I hear from old gentleman
If Way old gentleman be know person
Reason what confident five thousand characters
