The wave recedes into the sea,
along with love that used to be.
The sun recedes behind the cloud,
and life recedes beneath the shroud.
A cruel and godless penalty
conspired to steal my love from me,
as if she were a falling leaf,
a passing season without grief.
The sea is salted by my tears,
with loss of love and fading years.
And heaven hides beyond the gray,
to shed no light on my dismay.
And deep within the mist and foam,
I wander searching for my home,
a shack beside the bleached debris,
of pain and loss and destiny.
That's a true elegy like those first written by greek poets since the 6th c. b.d.

A great write on love and loss. All your poems on these topics are superb. Very heart-touching indeed. A huge 10.
Thanks Nosheen. I guess that topic is what I know best and feel most.
