Recess Of Life Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Recess Of Life

Love entangles life, love strangles promises
demanding adherence, reciprocation, dedication,
so breathlessly, so emphatically, so endlessly;
hearts suffocates to provide its generosity
yet love never gives up its game.

Man the powerful human survivor
sustaining others with his love and concern
always forgetting he needs it more than others;
his age passes providing care for his parents,
his brothers and sisters, his wife and children;
yet at the feet of love he dances,
at the table of love he seeks appreciation,
in exchange he offers his respect and attention.

Finally in the end of his tenure on this earth
everyone grows and forgets his efforts,
love never gives man anything in return
that helps to linger his lust and lustre
as passion in the course of time silently withers.

Love does not even assure survival
as out of the thirty two teeth, some keep falling
just a few morsels of food keeps him going,
another day of sunshine becomes his solace and blessing;
his breathing techniques keep changing
his body yearns for rest and closure to life and living
but love oscillates life with calmness in togetherness.

In the greatness of time, love becomes his crime
which persuades him to do so many things for others
just because he wanted to love and be loved.
In the recesses of his life, it is only love
that fervently inspires man to win so many hearts
which are sometimes so grateful, sometimes so forgetful.
