Recovered Infatuations Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Recovered Infatuations

Devastating!
Heartbreaking.
Painful and shocking.
The reality of truth.
Effectively producing,
Frightening images.
And the way that truth,
Comes to introduce them.

Dramatic are the scenes,
Of death and threats of it.
Spreading the World over.
Leaving people afraid to breathe.
Hoping to survive,
Through a keeping of themselves...
At a recommended 'social distance' kept.

Yet...
Not from the air.
There but no one sees.
Created by the trees.
Leaving people to perceive,
This airborne traveling virus...
Has only chosen them to disease.

Told we are to wear masks.
Wash our hands and not touch faces.
With a staying away from each other.
Regardless of race.
Religious affiliations.
Churches.
And where we go to vote.

Yet...
What the people are seeking most,
Is their precious delusions...
Kept remained to keep protected.
Unaffected.
With a praying they do,
Their 'normalcy',
Returns again to enable them...
A safe and comforting acknowledgement,
Of having back...
Their recovered infatuations intact.
